When planning a honeymoon there are a lot of good choices of places to go with a variety of things to do. Popular choices are the Hawaiian Islands, Cancun, Mexico, or a Caribbean island. Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands is referred to as the "garden island." This is a very beautiful place that we chose for our honeymoon. Maui is another good choice. There are many resorts to consider in Cancun or the Mayan Riviera south of Cancun. The Caribbean offers many choices including St. Lucia, with its magnificent Twin Pitons (volcanic mountains), which we found to be a paradise.

If you are looking for beaches then Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean offer many choices including some of the worlds most beautiful beaches. There are also many great resorts.
For an incredible amount of fun go to the number one vacation destination in the world: Disney World in Orlando, Florida. While in Orlando do not miss Universal Studios which we enjoyed as much as Disney. Another popular place is Las Vegas, even if you do not like casinos. Other cities that are a lot of fun include New York City, San Francisco, and New Orleans.

Many honeymooners look to Europe. The choices include Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. See world class cities, beautiful countrysides, castles, Cathedrals, museums, and ancient ruins. Accommodations range from bed and breakfasts to fine hotels. However, one romantic way to tour Europe is to stay in castles and palaces!

A popular alternative to a land based honeymoon is to take a cruise. Cruising at sea is very romantic. It is possible to cruise in many parts of the world. Popular choices are the Caribbean Sea and Alaska, and we enjoyed cruising in both places. But our most romantic cruise was on a small ship with sails in the Greek Isles. On a cruise there are many activities, a lot of entertainment, and visits to several ports of call. There is also lots of food including the famous midnight buffets. We have found cruising to be a great experience and we go as often as we can.

If you enjoy nature tours and want to see beautiful scenery, volcanoes, cloud forests, monkeys, birds, butterflies, and much wildlife go to Costa Rica. Costa Rica is described as the "Switzerland of the Americas," and it is one of our favorite places. Or how about going to the Amazon Jungle which offers its special kind of fun, romance, and excitement? Would you like an African Safari? If you choose SCUBA diving there are many wonderful choices worldwide.

There are lots of places with beautiful scenery. Included are the Canadian Rockies, the Lake District in Northern England, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, the cloud forests of Costa Rica, the incredible Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil, Fiji in the South Pacific, and the South Island of New Zealand.

If you like interesting places with fascinating ancient history consider the Mayan Ruins in Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala, or Peru with the Inca Ruins at Machu Picchu, or Europe with its numerous castles, palaces, and ruins, or Egypt with its pyramids. These places offer an added dimension to a romantic escape.

For a different experience than found in the western world go to Bangkok, Thailand. The temples and shrines there are dazzling. This is a great place to visit that we enjoyed a lot. The Orient has much to offer.
